The Superior Seam Technology™ roof systems are considered the benchmark in the industry for structural metal standing seam product performance. Our Research & Development group continually searches for ways to improve our roof systems. The search extends to investigating ways to make our roof systems more energy efficient while utilizing our extensive standoff clip offerings.
Our search led our team to Sealed N Safe, a metal encapsulated foam thermal spacer which provides an avenue for single skin metal membranes to meet the challenges of “Green Design” associated with ASHRAE Standard 90.1-2016 Thermal Bridging regarding thermal shorts. The thermal spacers coupled with the SST extended standoff clips provide excellent opportunities to enhance standard fiberglass blanket insulation applications with R values up to R-54 on standard 10” purlins. These spacers can be utilized in either single layer or multi-layer applications.
The thermal spacers carry the ICC Standards ratings: Class A fire, Flame spread of 25 and smoke index of less than 150 while being encased in 24-gauge metal cladding reducing flame exposure in case of fire. Note the ICC does not allow exposed plastics and foam such as Styrofoam in ceiling locations-ICC Chapter 26.
