Welcome 2022- New Beginnings

Building Research Systems, Inc (BRS) would like to be one of the first to welcome each of our licensees and strategic partners to the renewed hope for what the year 2022 brings. The new year brings a much-needed sense of a refreshed beginning after the roller coaster of uncertainty and turmoil experienced in the last two years due to Covid-19, steel unavailability, labor shortages, numerous continuing business worries accompanied by supply chain and delivery hardships. All these issues, events, physical challenges fail in comparison to the heartache of losing employees, industry leaders, friends, family and especially loved ones prematurely to the pandemic. Our deepest sympathies and continual prayers go out for all licensees, strategic partners and associates which have experienced such tragic losses.

However, the turning of a new year promotes the perception of a sense of a clean slate start for 2022 while stimulating considerable excitement for the hopes and promises to conquer the unknown challenges or future unforeseen events in the approaching days. BRS expects to be a witness to numerous licensees, strategic partners and associates inspirational triumphs over any challenge or difficulty encountered in the months ahead. The new year will provide opportunities to accomplish many wonderous things with unexpected rewards that we will gladly accept and cherish in the months ahead. In 2022, BRS will be releasing additional beneficial Superior Seam Technology™ (SST) inspired innovations for our license holders to further their leadership position within the metal standing seam roofing system industry.

BRS has put forth great effort to provide our licensees, strategic partners and associates the necessary innovational tools and products to assist in successful outcomes when encountering the challenges of roof system design performance. The BRS team has worked diligently during the pandemic affected years to improve our TS-324© and Panel Craft 216/218 roof systems to remain the most technologically advanced roofing systems profiles available in the marketplace. Using our proprietary SST, the BRS group has developed the patented High-Capacity Starter plate that the panel may drop on in lieu of rolling on at the roof system panel starting point. These industry leading innovational parts are available in various web heights (depending on the clips being used) to maintain the consistent panel plane while providing continuous support at the panel start and finish areas if roof system panels are finished on module. The high-capacity superior performance of the parts gives project engineers the confidence of their design to handle the stricter edge and corner zone wind uplift requirements without necessitating additional secondary structural members. These patented parts allow for up to 7” of thermal cycle travel when used in conjunction with 8”, 16” (TS-324 only) or 12” (both profiles) wind clips to have panel runs up to 500’-0” without a midpoint attachment or costly rafter step downs. The patented High-Capacity Rake plates allow for the roofing systems to start or finish off module while providing industry leading wind uplift capacity tested to be up to 4X stronger than other current perimeter/edge zone parts. The testing resulted in the parts losing serviceability (no longer functional for thermal cycling movement) in lieu of catastrophic roof loss due to slotted shoulder fasteners being pulled through the deformed slots under wind uplift duress.

The industry leading innovations continue with an SST blank paper redesigning review of both roofing systems fixed clips. Each roof system now features more stouter fixed clips with dual folded bases, an additional fifth attachment hole for better installation options, added stiffener ribs for both roof systems including more steel for both fixed clips (60% increase for TS-324 and 40% increase for PC216/218). These design innovations enhance better rotational and lateral capabilities, improved base performance, better resistance to purlin roll including diaphragm for improved overall clip performance. The ASTME-1592 independent test results are comparable to the Movable Purlin Stabilizing clips (MPS) extended series clip performance values for both roofing systems. BRS, working with its strategic stamping partners, has added additional extended standoff heights to allow for more insulation between the panel and the secondary framing for higher “R” or lower ”U” values for both roofing systems. These added Moveable Purlin Stabilizing (MPS) standoff clip heights make direct retrofitting over existing thru fastened roof systems an attractive revenue avenue to pursue for all license holders in the expansive retrofit roofing market. The Panel Craft fixed and MPS clips improvements coupled with the patent pending seamer folding methodology has recently resulted in a significant improvement in the uplift capabilities of the 4-5/16” tab clip performances.

BRS has recently completed its yearlong roof systems technology update process of the “Core Four” tech updates for both licensed roof systems. Each roof system update will be released within weeks to all TS-324® and Panel Craft 216/218 licensees. These tech updates are a complete line, text, drawing and added features revision of the “Core Four” instruction guides consisting of the Order Procedure, Product Application, Product Installation and Product Architectural guides. Each Licensee will be able to assess the updated guides thru the BRS website licensee portal for downloading. BRS will be formalizing the individual licensee release for these important guides in an upcoming instructional letter.

Another new beginning in 2022, starts with the introduction of an innovational licensee support and revenue generating opportunity for existing license holders and future licensees.  This latest BRS Superior Seam Technology™ roof system licensing plan is called the Alpha/Ascension/Private Label manufacturing opportunities program. The program is designed to maximize rolling mill-run time reducing equipment idle time while providing greater market presence, access, and project success for all program participating licensees.  BRS is pleased to announce the newest and Superior Seam Technology™ (SST) member and first Alpha Program license holder Metal Panels Inc. (MPI)- Tulsa, OK. They are the first Alpha/Ascension/Private Label program manufacturer for the TS-324® roof system. MPI anticipates having their production line operational mid to late May 2022. Please contact BRS for additional details of this revolutionary Alpha/Ascension/Private Label business program growth opportunity.

We remain committed to our licensees, strategic partners, and associates in the coming year to maintain the Superior Seam Technology™ brand industry leadership position while always setting the benchmark for standing seam roof system performance. The premier standing seam TS-324® and the Panel Craft 216/218 roofing systems are envy of the industry for wind uplift, air/water infiltration, weatherability, edge and corner zone design capabilities and overall, in place roof performance.  The BRS team members are dedicated to providing “world class” licensee support, unparalleled technical, sales, and problem resolution assistance along with groundbreaking innovational developments to assure long-term licensee success throughout the new year.

BRS wishes to thank its Strategic Partners, Associates, especially the Stamping Companies, for the excellent job they did in 2021 dealing with steel, sealant, and supply chain induced shortages. Their heroic efforts allowed all license holders an opportunity to continue to complete projects with minimum impact delays. Job well done!

We appreciate all our licensees, strategic partners, and associates for being a part of the BRS roofing system and industry leadership market success story. Together, let’s make this year the best yet.
